Kyo-yaki & Kiyomizu-yaki/Ceramics: Megumi Sasaki

My time at a Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu-yaki studio that mainly produced tea utensils taught me overglaze techniques that I now use to create and paint my own designs at home. I strive to craft items that fit modern lifestyles while also cherishing traditional designs and patterns.

1985 Born in Mie Prefecture

2009 Graduated from Kyoto University of Education (formative

          expression major)

2012 Completed the General Course at Kyoto Prefectural Ceramists'

          Technical Institute 

2013 Completed the Design Course at Kyoto Prefectural Ceramists'

          Technical Institute

2013 Began ceramics painting job at a studio in Kyoto City

2014 Received the Kyoto Federation of Ceramics Association Award at

          the Kyoto Coloured Picture Pottery Exhibition

2019 Received the Kyoto Federation of Ceramics Association Award at

          the Future of Kyo-yaki Exhibition

2020 Became working from home as an independent artisan 

2021 Received the Kyoto Prefecture Governor's Award at the Kyoto

          Coloured Picture Pottery Exhibition

2022 Became a  Certified Kyoto Traditional Products Craftsman  (Kyo-

           yaki& Kiyomizu-yaki)
