Kyo-yaki & Kiyomizu-yaki/Ceramics: Takahiro Okayama
Born into a family running a ceramics business near Kyoto's historic Sennyuji Temple, home to many other pottery makers, I learned the basics and went on to become a ceramic artist while working for the family business. Throughout the long history of ceramics, artisans have combined - or taken away - the techniques they have learned to create their own unique style. I myself also continue to study the craft and develop new pieces.
