Kyo-insho/Seals: Yoshihiko Kawai (Kawamasa Inbou)
It has been 21 years since I became the third-generation owner of my family's seal shop. I treasure my role as both the shop owner and an artisan as I walk this path. In addition to answering customers' questions about seal materials and typefaces, I occasionally speak about the history and unique features of Kyo-insho, a craft that has unceasingly been passed down for over 1000 years. As an artisan who has inherited hand-carving techniques, I continue to hone my craft while working alongside and productively competing with my wife.
